Check out some of the most sought after IT security certifications

In the world of IT is in big need of security specialists. Very big need. Security breaches are daily and qualified people are needed to help the companies.

But, as is with many other things in IT, there are simply way too many systems, technologies and platforms to deal with. Most companies are making the mistake of seeking for a one-all-knowing-IT-guy for the reasons of lack of funding or simply lack of knowledge about the issues.  According to IT Skills and Certifications Pay Index (ITSCPI) from research and analysis firm Foote Partners there are at least 69 information security and cybersecurity certifications. They are going up by about 8% every year.

With other words, it is not possible to have one, two or even four IT security guys that can know everything about the topic. But you don’t need to have that. What you need is to have a team of specialists that are highly qualified with the systems you are using.

And for IT guys that are looking to gain some more expertise, now it is a great time to get certified on a few more things. But how to choose the right ones? ComputerWorld has published the most sought after IT security certifications that are part of Foote Partner’s IT Skills and Certifications Pay Index for Q1 2015. This Index tracks premium pay for 749 IT certifications and noncertified skills on a quarterly basis. The latest edition data was collected through April 1, 2015, and includes information from 54,899 validated IT professionals receiving premium pay for their skills and/or certifications.
