Tech certifications are a great way to improve your skills and advance in your career in IT. HRs and management also know how important certifications are.
After all they are one of the most easy ways to know for sure that a person has the skills he or she is claiming to have. Plus, they show eagerness to develop and improve over time. This is something specific to IT pros who actually put more value on developing new skills over salary.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have both. Actually, IT pros know their value quite well. Companies which want the best talent have to show that not only with great working conditions and benefits, but also with proper salaries. In the current market where IT jobs are a lot more than the people to fill them, that’s even more important.
So, naturally, people with some specific skills are even more difficult to find. The IT Skills and Certifications Pay Index (ITSCPI) tracks which skills earn the highest salaries. It covers a total of 255 600 IT professionals from 2985 private and public employers.
The report shows that some tech certifications earn from 2% to 18% of the base salary. The data is up to Oct. 1st 2016, ComputerWorld reports. The data shows that this is the 14th consecutive quarterly rise in overall pay for certified skill. This is an unmatched record for the 18 years the Index has been tracking salaries.
Unsurprisingly, the biggest raise comes for cybersecurity, followed by architecture and applications development. The magazine has published a list of the 25 tech certifications which form at least 14% to 18% from the base salary.
