If you are an IT pro, chances are you are among the ones who want to change their job this year. And it’s not like there aren’t options for you out there. Actually, there are thousands of job openings for high-paying positions. Are you up to par with their requirements?
Job seeking site Indeed has a list of the big US companies which are offering the most job offerings for positions paying above $50 000 a year. Unsurprisingly pretty much half of the top 10 are IT companies. Combined, they offer several thousands of high-paying IT jobs.
Here are the IT companies with most high-paying job openings
The data is as of January 1st 2017.
Oracle has 1153 open positions which pay over $50 000 a year.
Leidos, which is a defense company specializing in many areas, has 1181 openings for over $50 000 a year.
IBM has 1221 job openings with similar salary or above.
Lockheed Martin, a defense and aerospace giant, needs 1248 highly qualified pros.
Booz Allen Hamilton, yet again a defense giant specializing in technology, has 1334 offers.
Finally, Amazon leads the IT companies. It has 3115 job openings for $50k or above.
Of course, there’s a reason why there are so many unfilled jobs. On one hand we have the huge growth these companies are having. They need to expand their teams very fast. On the other hand though we have the serious lack of skilled IT pros. As you can expect, most of these high-paying jobs require some specific and serious skills.
It’s a trend for the entire IT job market. The more you build up your skills and certifications, the more career options you will have. The IT industry is on the verge of the next huge disruptive wave which will bring many changes. AI, Virtual Reality, IoT, mobile are just some of the big segments which will shape the industry and in fact the world in the years to come. Also extremely important will be the network and infrastructure, security and more.
So, now is the time to invest in developing your skills which will serve you for the future. This is also valid for HRs and company execs. If you want to position your company well for the future, you should invest in your team and build up the needed skills.
